  • "Alma Mater"

    My name is Antonio and i was born in Zamora.

    Since i was a child my grandfather and father inculcated in me the famous “wine culture”…to put it bluntly, I was between vineyard, grape juices and wineries and since very young I drunk and appreciated the good wine.


    This atmosphere undoubtedly influenced so much on my life that nowdays I am what I am because of them.

    If there is something special in the life, really it is to know how to choose, I have not done always well, but I never doubted that the day, when I left everything to recover native varieties in our “pago”, was a great day.

    Years have been by, I have not become in a rich man, but my family and me have made a wine which I am sure that my father and grandfather would be proud of it.


    I believe in respect with capital letters, we will have trouble respecting each other if we can not respect the mother nature, taking care of it, loving it, being environmentally friendly and living in harmony with its cycles and tempo. It is not hurry because it is going to be there always.

    Please, if you had the oportunity of tasting our wine you would became in someone special because this wine has the characteristic of giving happiness.

    Our philosophy

    It is not easy to capture true messages of life in a world in which impatient wish for immediately satisfaction, or maybe apathy owing to a lack of hope of finding something different do that we would not dare to walk between narrow edges that separate the possible and the impossible, and it leads us to the unique.

    Like winery, our vital philosofy is to get tirelessy the beautiful of the different, because of that despite of nowdays almost everything is mass production, we bet on the real difficulty, to combine legacy of wisdom forged in the past with technological methods of the present.


    In family, with ilusion and faithful to the princicples which saw us be born... just like that we turn our wines into a real message which caresses the senses and wake up them to the life.

    All our methodology is tried to be as natural as possible.

    For us the basis of a good wine is the berry.
    Nature is different every year, nevertheless, we can act with necessary wisdom attain that berry obtains its maxim expression.

    Extreme dry continental climate (annual rainfall: 250-350 mm) and characterized by day-nigh thermal oscillations (-14ºc to 40ºc).
    Up to 3.000 hours of sunshine.

    The great river duero has shaped these wide horizons with deep, limestone and gravelly soils.

    Flora and Fauna

    A virgin environment with thymes, rosemarys, fennels and a great variety of aromatic plants. Flowers with concentrate aromes. Oak wood, pines and bushes. All of them take care of our vineyard which is far away from the civilitation.

    Our pago is home to many different species like partridge, hares, rabbits. Hundreds of birds come back every year to make happy our vineyards with their trills and turn it into a real paradise.

    "Volvoreta Probus"

    This pago´s wine is born in ungrafted pre-phylloxera organic tempranillo, native variety “tinta de toro”, vines at more than 750 m above sea level in south-facing steeps inside of a virgin environment between acorns and thymes.

    We make our wine sorting about 800 g in each vine of concentrated berries with colour, aromes and native yeasts.

    We extract maxim colour and aromes by traditional cold soak, fermentation with skins during 30 days takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats.

    Consumption temperature: to let the wine breathe at least 30’ and serve to 16ºc.

    Food pairing: stews, red meats, roast meats, patés, cheeses, charcuterie and blue fishes.

    Limited production: 10.000 bottles (75cl)

    This pago´s wine shows a bright, clean and deep black cherry colour with purple glints. A powerful bouquet of ripe black fruit, mineral and damp earth, ripe tannins mingling with a fresh and subtle spearmint aroma.

    Very nice milk notes, balsamics, cocoa, liquorice.
    On the palate, there is a soft, fleshy and sweet flavour. Well balanced and harmonious with a subtle and lingering finish.

    It can be drunk over the next eight years.

    "El vino del Buen Amor"=Best Love Wine

    This pago´s wine is born in ungrafted pre-phylloxera organic Tempranillo, native variety “tinta de toro”, vines at more than 750 m above sea level.

    In family grapes are picked by hand only of our pago and sort berries arrieve at cellar in crates and low temperature.

    Extreme sorting: 2000kg/ ha.

    Cold soak, fermentation with skins during 30 days in stainless steel vats. We do not add yeasts.

    No cold stabilization and no filtration.


    Consumption temperature: to let the wine breathe and serve to 16ºc.

    Food pairing: stews, red meats, roast meats, patés, cheeses, charcuterie and blue fishes.

    Limited production: 10.000 bottles (75cl)

    Peñin guide 2008:
    Shows a black cherry colour with purple glints. A wonderful bouquet of fresh fruit, blackberries, floral, milk notes and tasty, fruity on the palate.

  • RESEARCH OF BARCELONA UNIVERSITY
  • Barcelona University, a research team of the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department led by Dr. Josep M. Argiles and the winery where “Volvoreta” red wine lives, work together in an innovative project associated with cancer.


    The administration of “Volvoreta” red wine in laboratory animals, in the drinks prevents the development of chemically induced tumors. The administration of a concentrated from this wine in laboratory animals affects with less impact on cancer tumor growth, is palliative in nature.

    These are two main results of the study conducted by Barcelona University, led by Dr. Josep M. Argiles head of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department. Since last year, the innovative research is part of a project analyzing the importance of moderate wine consumption in the prevention of cancer-connected muscular debilitation.

    Visit begins making a route around the organic vineyard where we explain characteristics and methods to achieve the highest concentrations of healthy qualities: anticancer, antioxidant ... naturally present in our grapes thanks to patented method.
    We continue visiting an old winery, s.XVII, with a Phoenicians, 1100 a. C pressed system and still in use.
    Wine tasting with the best organic native premium products.

    Time*: 3 hours aprox. Time required to enjoy a nice day.

    We are the only family winery in Sanzoles del Vino, a small village has a population of 500. In the heart of the "Wine’s region" just 10 minutes from Zamora, northwest of Spain.
